I have a lot to say about this one, so bear with me.

As much as I find everything Fr/ans is based on and stands for absolutely disgusting and wrong, Frisk and Sans' actual in-game friendship actually makes me... kind of happy? Maybe more than 'kind of'. Sure, it's not as personal or close to my heart as my interpretation of Sans and Chara's relationship, but I can still appreciate the hecc out of it without turning sans into a pedophile lol. 

Y'see, for all his "gave up long ago, don't care about anything" shtick, Sans... really wants to be Frisk's friend. The part that gets me is that while yes, he does act buddy-buddy with them in Pacifist (and neutral, as long as Pap is alive) and he's genuinely rooting for them, the only time when he openly admits wanting to be Frisk's friend is in the end of a Kill-All run. Y'know, when Frisk is covered in the dust of everyone he loves? Yup. That's when Sans decides to admit, in his own words, that "before all this i was secretly hoping we could be friends". And this exact phrase he says after Frisk refuses to spare him. Before that there's even more friendship spiel: "someone who, in another time, might have been... a friend?", "if we're really friends... you won't come back", and "if you came back anyway... i guess that means we never really WERE friends, huh?".

You could claim that he's only trying to rub salt into the wound but honestly? To me all these phrases sound way too genuine to be just that. Even killing Frisk when they spare him has a purpose; he knows they'll just come back anyway, so if they really intend to RESET, he might as well give them the opportunity. But if Frisk does come back, that's when the friendship monologue screeches to a halt, and in its place a simple "friendship... it's really great, right? let's quit fighting". They came back either way. They were never, and they don't intend to become his friend. And even then, he’s still hoping that some other him will be able to befriend them.

"heh. don't tell that to the other sans-es, okay?"
